October is upon us and you know what that means \u2013 one of the most fun nights of the year is quickly approaching: October 31st<\/sup>, a.k.a Halloween! If you haven\u2019t yet found a costume, you still have some time; but don\u2019t forget about your furry friend. The entire family can enjoy Halloween, and yes, that includes your pet! Finding the right costume for your pet can be tricky. Store-bought costumes can be costly and your pet may not be very cooperative when it comes to wearing it. For that reason, consider a DIY costume for your pet this Halloween. Here are some cost-effective, adorable ideas that will be sure to win them accolades in a costume contest!<\/p>\n

Versatile Costumes for Any Pet:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whether you have a cat, dog, bunny, or hamster these costumes will have them looking like Halloween pros. And let\u2019s be honest, what trick-or-treater wouldn\u2019t want to be greeted at the door from a pet dressed up in a costume?<\/p>\n

Flower collar <\/em><\/strong>Take cardboard or felt squares and cut out flower pedals, enough to fit around the neck of your pet. Hot glue each pedal onto an elastic that will fit around your pets\u2019 neck comfortably and in a non-restrictive manner. Voila! You\u2019ll have a cute flower blossoming around your household.<\/p>\n

Spider <\/em><\/strong>Find a toy spider large enough that the legs will be the right size for your pet. Cut a ribbon, preferably the same colour as the spider or your pet, and hot glue the spider on to it. Slip the spider on your pet and they are ready to strut. Beware of any guests you may have over who have a fear of spiders!<\/p>\n

Dog-Specific Costumes:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Poop factory<\/em><\/strong> Yes, you read that right. We all know dogs go to the bathroom regularly so why not have fun with it? Get a box large enough that it will fit on and around your dog. Draw bricks and windows as you see fit, and colour it in red. Take a black marker and write \u201cPoop Factory.\u201d Do this on both sides of the box. If you want it to look more realistic, hot glue empty toilet rolls to the top to represent chimneys. Pierce two holes on the bottom of each side of the box to place a string that can then be tied around the belly of your dog.<\/p>\n

Watchdog <\/em><\/strong>Cut out a large circle from a piece of cardboard. Paint it white, and with a black marker draw the numbers, minute lines and clock hands. Hot glue the clock to a black cloth that will fit comfortably around your dog. Now you have your very own watchdog!<\/p>\n
